64 AN ACT
75 relating to the exemption from taxes and special assessments of
86 property of a navigation district.
97 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
108 SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 60, Water Code, is amended
119 by adding Section 60.005 to read as follows:
1210 Sec. 60.005. EXEMPTION FROM TAXATION AND SPECIAL
1311 ASSESSMENTS. The property of a district is public property used for
1412 essential public and governmental purposes. The district and the
1513 district's property are exempt from all taxes and special
1614 assessments imposed by this state or a political subdivision of
1715 this state.
1816 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
1917 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2018 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2119 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2220 Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
