114 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
125 AN ACT
136 relating to compensation of county auditors and assistant auditors
147 in certain counties.
158 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
169 SECTION 1. Section 152.905, Local Government Code, is
1710 amended by adding Subsection (e) to read as follows:
1811 (e) This subsection applies only to a county auditor or
1912 assistant auditor appointed to serve a county located on an
2013 international border that has a population of less than 300,000 and
2114 contains one or more municipalities with a population of 200,000 or
2215 more. In setting the compensation for a county auditor or assistant
2316 auditor considered at a hearing under this section, the district
2417 judge or judges may not set the amount of compensation in an amount
2518 that is inconsistent with a wage and position classification plan
2619 adopted by the county.
2720 SECTION 2. For a county auditor or assistant auditor
2821 appointed before the effective date of this Act whose compensation
2922 does not conform to the person's position classification as
3023 provided by a wage and position classification plan adopted by the
3124 county that the person serves, the district judge or judges, in
3225 subsequent hearings setting the person's annual compensation,
3326 shall, without reducing the person's annual compensation, align the
3427 person's compensation with the wage and position classification
3528 plan adopted by the county.
3629 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
