9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 411, Government Code, is | |
11 | 11 | amended by adding Section 411.0089 to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | Sec. 411.0089. FEDERAL COOPERATION. (a) The department | |
13 | 13 | may enter an agreement with one or more United States district | |
14 | 14 | courts in this state under which the court provides the department | |
15 | 15 | with notice of a person who fails to comply with a notice to appear | |
16 | 16 | for a violation of a traffic law or other regulation in a United | |
17 | 17 | States district court in this state. | |
18 | 18 | (b) If the department receives notification under | |
19 | 19 | Subsection (a) regarding a person's failure to comply with a notice | |
20 | 20 | to appear in a United States district court, the department may | |
21 | 21 | notify that person of the failure to appear at any appropriate time. | |
22 | 22 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
23 | 23 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
24 | 24 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
25 | 25 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
26 | 26 | Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
