 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 AN ACT
 relating to the authority of the Department of Public Safety to
 provide notification of a failure to appear in federal court.
 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 SECTION 1.  Subchapter A, Chapter 411, Government Code, is
 amended by adding Section 411.0089 to read as follows:
 Sec. 411.0089.  FEDERAL COOPERATION. (a)  The department
 may enter an agreement with one or more United States district
 courts in this state under which the court provides the department
 with notice of a person who fails to comply with a notice to appear
 for a violation of a traffic law or other regulation in a United
 States district court in this state.
 (b)  If the department receives notification under
 Subsection (a) regarding a person's failure to comply with a notice
 to appear in a United States district court, the department may
 notify that person of the failure to appear at any appropriate time.
 SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
 Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
