66 AN ACT
77 relating to petty cash funds for county welfare departments in
88 certain populous counties.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 130.905(a), Local Government Code, is
1111 amended to read as follows:
1212 (a) The commissioners court of a county with a population of
1313 1.3 million or more, for the support of paupers through a county
1414 welfare department, may authorize the disbursement of an amount set
1515 by the commissioners court [not to exceed $2,500] to the head of the
1616 county welfare department for use as a petty cash fund in order that
1717 cash is immediately available for transportation and other expenses
1818 of the paupers. The petty cash fund must be established under a
1919 system provided and installed by the county auditor with reports to
2020 be made to the auditor, as the auditor may require, by the head of
2121 the county welfare department.
2222 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2323 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2424 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2525 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2626 Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
