9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 130.905(a), Local Government Code, is | |
11 | 11 | amended to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | (a) The commissioners court of a county with a population of | |
13 | 13 | 1.3 million or more, for the support of paupers through a county | |
14 | 14 | welfare department, may authorize the disbursement of an amount set | |
15 | 15 | by the commissioners court [not to exceed $2,500] to the head of the | |
16 | 16 | county welfare department for use as a petty cash fund in order that | |
17 | 17 | cash is immediately available for transportation and other expenses | |
18 | 18 | of the paupers. The petty cash fund must be established under a | |
19 | 19 | system provided and installed by the county auditor with reports to | |
20 | 20 | be made to the auditor, as the auditor may require, by the head of | |
21 | 21 | the county welfare department. | |
22 | 22 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
23 | 23 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
24 | 24 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
25 | 25 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
26 | 26 | Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
