BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 130.905(a), Local Government Code, is
 amended to read as follows:
 (a) The commissioners court of a county with a population of
1.3 million or more, for the support of paupers through a county
welfare department, may authorize the disbursement of an amount set
by the commissioners court [not to exceed $2,500] to the head of the
county welfare department for use as a petty cash fund in order that
cash is immediately available for transportation and other expenses
of the paupers. The petty cash fund must be established under a

Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
