A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to procedures for uniform procedures for conducting an
election.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 128.001, Election Code, is amended by
adding Subsection (d) to read as follows:
(d) The secretary of state shall compile a list of uniform
procedures prescribed under this section for conducting an
election; for reconciliation of votes; and for the canvassing of
votes. The list of procedures must apply uniformly across the
state.
SECTION 2. Section 128.001, Election Code, is amended by
adding Subsection (e) to read as follows:
(e) Notwithstanding any other law, the list of procedures
required by Subsection (d) shall include procedures for:
(1) Conducting an election;
(2) Recalculation of votes;
(3) Canvassing of votes;
(4) Rights and responsibilities of poll watchers.
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
