126 relating to the authority of certain municipalities to alter prima
137 facie speed limits.
148 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
15- SECTION 1. Sections 545.356(b-1) and (b-2), Transportation
16- Code, are amended to read as follows:
9+ SECTION 1. Section 545.356(b-1), Transportation Code, is
10+ amended to read as follows:
1711 (b-1) Except as provided by Subsection (b-3), the governing
18- body of a municipality, for a street [highway] or a part of a street
19- [highway] in the municipality that is not an officially designated
20- or marked street [highway] or road of the state highway system, may
21- declare a lower speed limit of not less than 20 [25] miles per hour,
22- if the governing body determines that the prima facie speed limit on
23- the street [highway] is unreasonable or unsafe.
24- (b-2) Subsection (b-1) applies only to a two-lane,
25- undivided street [highway] or part of a street [highway].
12+ body of a municipality, for a highway or a part of a highway in the

14+ or road of the state highway system, may declare a lower speed limit
15+ of not less than 20 [25] miles per hour, if the governing body
