| 8 | 10 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 9 | 11 | | SECTION 1. Section 302.014(a), Labor Code, is amended to |

| 10 | 12 | | read as follows: |
|---|
| 11 | 13 | | (a) The commission shall provide the Texas Education Agency |
|---|
| 12 | 14 | | with information at least each quarter, disaggregated by county or |
|---|
| 13 | 15 | | other appropriate region, regarding: |
|---|
| 14 | 16 | | (1) current and projected employment opportunities in |
|---|
| 15 | 17 | | this state; |
|---|
| 16 | 18 | | (2) career and technical education partnership |
|---|
| 17 | 19 | | opportunities with business and industry; and |
|---|
| 18 | 20 | | (3) professional development opportunities for |
|---|
| 19 | 21 | | teachers and learning opportunities for students through industry |
|---|
| 20 | 22 | | mentorships, internships, summer programs, after-school programs, |
|---|
| 21 | 23 | | and career-based student leadership opportunities[, disaggregated |
|---|
| 22 | 24 | | by county or other appropriate region]. |

| 23 | 25 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
