94 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
105 AN ACT
116 relating to the abolishment of the Office of Immigration and
127 Refugee Affairs and the Governor's Advisory Committee on
138 Immigration and Refugees.
149 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1510 SECTION 1. Chapter 752, Government Code, is repealed.
1611 SECTION 2. The Office of Immigration and Refugee Affairs
1712 and the Governor's Advisory Committee on Immigration and Refugees
1813 are abolished. On the effective date of this Act:
1914 (1) all money other than federal money of the office is
2015 transferred to the Health and Human Services Commission;
2116 (2) all contracts, leases, rights, obligations, and
2217 personal property, including records, in the custody of the office,
2318 other than federal contracts, leases, rights, obligations, and
2419 personal property, are transferred to the commission; and
2520 (3) all remaining federal money, contracts, leases,
2621 rights, obligations, and personal property are transferred as
2722 directed by the director of the Office of Refugee Resettlement of
2823 the United States Department of Health and Human Services.
2924 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
3025 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
3126 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
3227 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3328 Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
