75 relating to the governing board of the Trinity Valley Community
86 College District.
97 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
108 SECTION 1. Subchapter E, Chapter 130, Education Code, is
119 amended by adding Section 130.0828 to read as follows:
1210 Sec. 130.0828. GOVERNING BOARD OF TRINITY VALLEY COMMUNITY
1311 COLLEGE DISTRICT. (a) Notwithstanding any other provision of this
1412 chapter, the governing board of the Trinity Valley Community
1513 College District may by resolution or order of the governing board
1614 increase the number of board members to 11.
1715 (b) A resolution or order of the governing board under this
1816 section must:
1917 (1) establish transition terms of office to conform to
2018 elections held in even-numbered years and staggered six-year terms;
2119 and
2220 (2) require the initial board members to draw lots to
2321 determine the members' terms, with:
2422 (A) five members serving terms of two years;
2523 (B) three members serving terms of four years;
2624 and
2725 (C) three members serving terms of six years.
2826 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
