| 10 | 8 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 11 | 9 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 552, Government Code, is |
|---|
| 12 | 10 | | amended by adding Section 552.158 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 13 | 11 | | Sec. 552.158. EXCEPTION: CONFIDENTIALITY OF PERSONAL |
|---|
| 14 | 12 | | INFORMATION REGARDING APPLICANT FOR APPOINTMENT BY GOVERNOR. The |
|---|
| 15 | 13 | | following information obtained by the governor or senate in |
|---|
| 16 | 14 | | connection with an applicant for an appointment by the governor is |
|---|
| 17 | 15 | | excepted from the requirements of Section 552.021: |
|---|
| 18 | 16 | | (1) the applicant's home address; |
|---|
| 19 | 17 | | (2) the applicant's home telephone number; and |
|---|
| 20 | 18 | | (3) the applicant's social security number. |
|---|
| 21 | 19 | | SECTION 2. The changes in law made by this Act apply only to |
|---|
| 22 | 20 | | a request for information that is received by a governmental body or |
|---|
| 23 | 21 | | an officer for public information on or after the effective date of |
|---|
| 24 | 22 | | this Act. A request for information that was received before the |
|---|
| 25 | 23 | | effective date of this Act is governed by the law in effect on the |
|---|
| 26 | 24 | | date the request was received, and the former law is continued in |
|---|
| 27 | 25 | | effect for that purpose. |
|---|
| 28 | 26 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 29 | 27 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 30 | 28 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 31 | 29 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 32 | 30 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2017. |
