7	5		relating to the designation of United States Highway 287 in
8	6		Armstrong and Donley Counties as the Colonel Charles Goodnight
9	7		Memorial Highway.
10	8		BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
11	9		SECTION 1. Subchapter B, Chapter 225, Transportation Code,
12	10		is amended by adding Section 225.123 to read as follows:
13	11		Sec. 225.123. COLONEL CHARLES GOODNIGHT MEMORIAL
14	12		HIGHWAY. (a) The portion of United States Highway 287 from the
15	13		eastern corporate limits of Claude to Clarendon in Armstrong and
16	14		Donley Counties is designated as the Colonel Charles Goodnight
17	15		Memorial Highway.
18	16		(b) Subject to Section 225.021(c), the department shall:
19	17		(1) design and construct markers indicating the
20	18		designation as the Colonel Charles Goodnight Memorial Highway and
21	19		any other appropriate information; and
22	20		(2) erect a marker at each end of the highway and at
23	21		appropriate intermediate sites along the highway.
24	22		SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
