94 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
105 AN ACT
116 relating to registration of a motor vehicle alleged to have been
127 involved in a violation detected by a photographic traffic signal
138 enforcement system.
149 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1510 SECTION 1. Section 707.017, Transportation Code, is amended
1611 to read as follows:
1712 Sec. 707.017. REGISTRATION AFTER CIVIL PENALTY IMPOSED
1813 [ENFORCEMENT]. The [(a) If the owner of a motor vehicle is
1914 delinquent in the payment of a civil penalty imposed under this
2015 chapter, the] county assessor-collector or the Texas Department of
2116 Motor Vehicles may not refuse to register a motor vehicle alleged to
2217 have been involved in a [the] violation of this chapter solely
2318 because the owner of the motor vehicle is delinquent in the payment
2419 of a civil penalty imposed under this chapter.
2520 [(b) This section does not apply to the registration of a
2621 motor vehicle under Section 501.0234.]
2722 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
