55 A JOINT RESOLUTION
66 proposing a constitutional amendment to repeal the constitutional
77 provision providing that marriage in this state consists only of
88 the union of one man and one woman and prohibiting this state or a
99 political subdivision of this state from creating or recognizing
1010 any legal status identical or similar to marriage.
1111 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1212 SECTION 1. Section 32, Article I, Texas Constitution, is
1313 repealed.
1414 SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be
1515 submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 7, 2017.
1616 The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the
1717 proposition: "The constitutional amendment repealing the
1818 constitutional provision providing that marriage in this state
1919 consists only of the union of one man and one woman and prohibiting
2020 this state or a political subdivision of this state from creating or
2121 recognizing any legal status identical or similar to marriage."
