| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | friends of Frank Hodges of Naples, who passed away on |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | September 24, 2016, at the age of 84; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The son of B. F. and Ruby Hodges, Frank Hodges was |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | born on November 3, 1931, in Gonzales and grew up in |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Breckenridge, along with his four younger siblings; in 1949, he |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | married June Freeman, with whom he shared six rewarding decades; |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | over the years, they became the loving parents of five children, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Yvonne, Ramona, Connie, Damon, and Vicki; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Hodges worked for Zack Burkett Company before |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | establishing his own business, Hodges and Son Construction, in |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | 1982, and after many successful years, he turned over the reins |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | of the company to his son; recognized for his professional |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | contributions, he was awarded a lifetime membership in the Texas |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Association of General Contractors in 2013; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Hodges was the proud patriarch of a family |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | that included his 18 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren; |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | he was an active member of the Naples Church of Christ, which he |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | served as an elder, and he made frequent mission trips to |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Honduras; affectionately known as "Poppa Frank" in his community |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | of faith, he helped establish a number of churches, and he |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | further gave back by creating a food ministry and by providing |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | educational scholarships and humanitarian aid; and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Frank Hodges earned deep respect and admiration |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | for his achievements as a business leader as well as for the many |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | ways that he shared his time and talents to better the lives of |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | others, and his memory will forever be cherished by all those who |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | knew him; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Frank Hodges and |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | extend sincere sympathy to his loved ones; and, be it further |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this day, it do |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | so in memory of Frank Hodges. |
