55 WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and
66 meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and
77 friends of Frank Hodges of Naples, who passed away on
88 September 24, 2016, at the age of 84; and
99 WHEREAS, The son of B. F. and Ruby Hodges, Frank Hodges was
1010 born on November 3, 1931, in Gonzales and grew up in
1111 Breckenridge, along with his four younger siblings; in 1949, he
1212 married June Freeman, with whom he shared six rewarding decades;
1313 over the years, they became the loving parents of five children,
1414 Yvonne, Ramona, Connie, Damon, and Vicki; and
1515 WHEREAS, Mr. Hodges worked for Zack Burkett Company before
1616 establishing his own business, Hodges and Son Construction, in
1717 1982, and after many successful years, he turned over the reins
1818 of the company to his son; recognized for his professional
1919 contributions, he was awarded a lifetime membership in the Texas
2020 Association of General Contractors in 2013; and
2121 WHEREAS, Mr. Hodges was the proud patriarch of a family
2222 that included his 18 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren;
2323 he was an active member of the Naples Church of Christ, which he
2424 served as an elder, and he made frequent mission trips to
2525 Honduras; affectionately known as "Poppa Frank" in his community
2626 of faith, he helped establish a number of churches, and he
2727 further gave back by creating a food ministry and by providing
2828 educational scholarships and humanitarian aid; and
2929 WHEREAS, Frank Hodges earned deep respect and admiration
3030 for his achievements as a business leader as well as for the many
3131 ways that he shared his time and talents to better the lives of
3232 others, and his memory will forever be cherished by all those who
3333 knew him; now, therefore, be it
3434 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
3535 Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Frank Hodges and
3636 extend sincere sympathy to his loved ones; and, be it further
3737 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
3838 his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this day, it do
3939 so in memory of Frank Hodges.
