| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Marion Violet Laffoon of Chandler passed away on |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | June 19, 2016, at the age of 74, leaving her circle of family and |

| 7 | 7 | | friends to cherish their many happy memories of time spent in her |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | company; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of Edgar and Ola Wills, the former |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Marion Wills was born in Ashdown, Arkansas, on August 31, 1941, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | and grew up with the companionship of five sisters; she was |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | joined in marriage to John Laffoon on January 7, 1973, and the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | couple enjoyed more than four decades together; they were |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | blessed with a treasured family that included two daughters, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Donna and Diana, as well as four granddaughters and eight |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | great-grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Deeply devoted to her Christian faith, Mrs. |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Laffoon was a valued congregant of Faith Baptist Church; in her |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | leisure time, she delighted in fishing, and she collected angel |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | and frog figurines, which she displayed in her home; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Marion Laffoon lived a rich and purposeful life |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | centered around her faith and her family, and she will long be |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | remembered with deep affection by all who had the good fortune to |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | know her; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Marion Violet |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Laffoon and extend sincere condolences to the members of her |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | family: to her husband, John Laffoon; to her daughters, Donna |

| 29 | 29 | | Mansfield and her husband, Steve, and Diana Turner and her |

| 30 | 30 | | husband, Roland; to her sisters, Kathryn Phelps, Edna Reyenga, |

| 31 | 31 | | Patsy Grooms, and Gladys Brown; to her granddaughters, Denise |
