SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 131
WHEREAS, The members of Church on the Rock in Daingerfield
celebrated the 25th anniversary of their church's founding on
September 25, 2016; and
WHEREAS, In 1991, the church was organized by about a dozen
members; they soon appointed co-pastors, Dr. Ed Brockway, who
later became associate pastor, and Randy Seybert, who has led the
house of worship as senior pastor since the early 1990s; Pastor
Seybert is supported in all his endeavors by his wife, Elizabeth
Seybert, whose many responsibilities include administration,
teaching, counseling, and oversight of the ladies' ministry; and
WHEREAS, Members met in a private home before renting a vacant
church building; originally known as Christian Temple Church, it
became an affiliate of Church on the Rock--International in 1996;
the following year, the congregation purchased a building to
renovate, and the first service was held in the new home on Easter
Sunday in 2000; and
WHEREAS, Countless Daingerfield residents have looked to
the Church on the Rock for spiritual guidance over the past
quarter century, and it is a pleasure to join in honoring the
church at this special time in its rich history; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
Legislature, hereby commemorate the 25th anniversary of the
Church on the Rock and extend to the congregation sincere best
wishes for many more years of shared prayer and fellowship; and,
be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the church as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
