| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | join the citizens of Taft in celebrating the 95th anniversary of |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | the Taft Independent School District; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Taft community traces its roots to the formation |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | of the Coleman-Fulton Pasture Company, later known as Taft Ranch; |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | when the town was initially formed in 1904, the first school was |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | sectioned off inside an old warehouse, and the Taft Independent |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | School District was established in August of 1921; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Throughout its history, the school district has |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | remained committed to the highest standards of academic excellence; |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | today the City of Taft is widely recognized for its progressive |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | school system; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, District teachers and staff members are dedicated to |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | instilling a love of learning in students and to helping them |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | develop the skills necessary to compete in a rapidly changing |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | workplace; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Following the district's motto, "Our Focus is |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Children," members of the Taft Independent School District |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Board of Trustees seek to provide the best educational |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | opportunities for all students and to enable them to succeed |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | not only as individuals but as citizens of the state and of the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | nation; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature, hereby commend all who have helped the Taft |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Independent School District become a model educational institution |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | and congratulate them on the district's 95th anniversary; and, |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | be it further |

| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

| 30 | 30 | | the district as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
