SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 14 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to join the citizens of Taft in celebrating the 95th anniversary of the Taft Independent School District; and WHEREAS, The Taft community traces its roots to the formation of the Coleman-Fulton Pasture Company, later known as Taft Ranch; when the town was initially formed in 1904, the first school was sectioned off inside an old warehouse, and the Taft Independent School District was established in August of 1921; and WHEREAS, Throughout its history, the school district has remained committed to the highest standards of academic excellence; today the City of Taft is widely recognized for its progressive school system; and WHEREAS, District teachers and staff members are dedicated to instilling a love of learning in students and to helping them develop the skills necessary to compete in a rapidly changing workplace; and WHEREAS, Following the district's motto, "Our Focus is Children," members of the Taft Independent School District Board of Trustees seek to provide the best educational opportunities for all students and to enable them to succeed not only as individuals but as citizens of the state and of the nation; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th Legislature, hereby commend all who have helped the Taft Independent School District become a model educational institution and congratulate them on the district's 95th anniversary; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the district as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
