| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | join Texans across the state in observing February 21, 2017, as |

| 4 | 4 | | Texas Trauma and Emergency Healthcare Day at the State |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | Capitol; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The health care professionals of the state's |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | trauma system play a vital role in helping to keep Texans healthy |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | and safe; these dedicated men and women stand ready to respond at |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | a moment's notice to crisis situations ranging from motor vehicle |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | accidents to natural disasters to such sudden medical |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | emergencies as strokes and heart attacks; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Texas is home to 288 designated trauma |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | facilities, which are supported by 22 trauma service area |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | regional advisory councils; the state's more than 64,000 |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | emergency medical services personnel, 42,000 nurses, and 2,000 |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | trauma and emergency physicians work in cooperation to provide |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | lifesaving care and rehabilitation services to the state's large |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | and diverse population; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Texans rely on the availability of professional |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | and compassionate emergency medical help, and it is truly fitting |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | that the men and women who provide that vital assistance receive |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | special recognition for their invaluable contributions to making |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Texas safer and healthier; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature, hereby commend the state's trauma and health care |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | workers on their hard work and tireless dedication and extend to |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | them best wishes for a productive and memorable Texas Trauma and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Emergency Healthcare Day; and, be it further |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | honor of this special occasion. |
