SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 162 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to join Texans across the state in observing February 21, 2017, as Texas Trauma and Emergency Healthcare Day at the State Capitol; and WHEREAS, The health care professionals of the state's trauma system play a vital role in helping to keep Texans healthy and safe; these dedicated men and women stand ready to respond at a moment's notice to crisis situations ranging from motor vehicle accidents to natural disasters to such sudden medical emergencies as strokes and heart attacks; and WHEREAS, Texas is home to 288 designated trauma facilities, which are supported by 22 trauma service area regional advisory councils; the state's more than 64,000 emergency medical services personnel, 42,000 nurses, and 2,000 trauma and emergency physicians work in cooperation to provide lifesaving care and rehabilitation services to the state's large and diverse population; and WHEREAS, Texans rely on the availability of professional and compassionate emergency medical help, and it is truly fitting that the men and women who provide that vital assistance receive special recognition for their invaluable contributions to making Texas safer and healthier; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th Legislature, hereby commend the state's trauma and health care workers on their hard work and tireless dedication and extend to them best wishes for a productive and memorable Texas Trauma and Emergency Healthcare Day; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in honor of this special occasion.
