44 John William Wiesner Jr.
55 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
66 commemorates the life of John William Wiesner Jr., who died
77 January 26, 2017, at the age of 88; and
88 WHEREAS, John Wiesner was born on February 28, 1929, in
99 Richmond, to John William and Marie Hajek Wiesner; he grew up in
1010 Hempstead and earned a degree in marketing from Southern
1111 Methodist University; and
1212 WHEREAS, He was married to the late Elizabeth Sorsby
1313 Wiesner for 64 years; the couple was blessed with three sons and
1414 numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and
1515 WHEREAS, His long and distinguished career in the
1616 automobile industry began in 1954 when he purchased his first
1717 dealership; in 1972, he acquired the Buick-GMC franchise in
1818 Conroe, which still serves as the flagship location for the
1919 Wiesner Auto Group dealerships in Huntsville, Tomball, and
2020 Rosenberg; and
2121 WHEREAS, Mr. Wiesner was active in a wide range of civic
2222 and philanthropic organizations, including the Conroe-Lake
2323 Conroe and The Woodlands Area Chambers of Commerce, the Conroe
2424 Symphony Orchestra, and the Rotary Club of Conroe; he was
2525 instrumental in the establishment of the Lone Star College System
2626 in Montgomery County, and he received numerous awards for his
2727 service to the community; he earned the high honor of 32nd degree
2828 of the Scottish Rite and was a member of the Arabian Temple and
2929 Shiners in Houston; and
3030 WHEREAS, A man of vision and compassion, he gave
3131 unselfishly to others, and his wisdom, his generous spirit, and
3232 his enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest will not be
3333 forgotten; and
3434 WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather,
3535 and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by his
3636 family and countless friends; now, therefore, be it
3737 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
3838 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
3939 family of John William Wiesner Jr.; and, be it further
4040 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
4141 his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
4242 Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
4343 memory of John William Wiesner Jr.
