SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 200
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Tomasita Lyle, who is retiring as the minority and
women business enterprise coordinator for the Dallas Independent
School District after 22 years of distinguished service; and
WHEREAS, For more than two decades, Tommi Lyle has promoted
and facilitated initiatives designed to increase the opportunities
available for minority-owned and women-owned businesses, and her
work has provided invaluable support to Texas women and
minorities who are interested in beginning an entrepreneurial
career path; and
WHEREAS, In her role as coordinator, she has built strategic
partnerships with community businesses and organizations, guided
initiatives for business development and training, and served as
an advocate for students and aspiring business owners; and
WHEREAS, Tommi Lyle has worked to increase the number of
minority-owned and women-owned businesses in Texas through
initiatives such as the Knowledge is Power Business Conference
and the Minority/Women Business Enterprise EXPO; she has been
honored for her exceptional work by numerous civic organizations
and has been featured in the Dallas Morning News and Women's
Enterprise; and
WHEREAS, Tommi Lyle is a highly respected member of the
Greater Dallas business community, and she is being honored by
her colleagues at a retirement reception on February 22, 2017;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
Legislature, hereby commend Tomasita Lyle for her outstanding
career with the Dallas Independent School District and her many
contributions to her community and extend to her best wishes in
all her future endeavors; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her
as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
