SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 213
In Memory
of
Marvin H. Maberry Jr.
WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their
memories of Marvin H. Maberry Jr. of Daingerfield, who passed
away on November 10, 2016, at the age of 78; and
WHEREAS, A native of Corsicana, Marvin Maberry was born on
February 12, 1938; he enjoyed a 25-year career with the Texas
Department of Public Safety, where he served as an accident
investigator; in 1989, after retiring from the department, he
created Maberry Centre Bat Homes, a business that specialized in
building a variety of innovative dwellings for bats to roost; he
was also a longtime volunteer with the Bat House Project run by
Bat Conservation International, and he made it part of his
mission to help the public better understand the important role
that bats play in the ecosystem; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Maberry shared a rewarding marriage with his
wife, Diane, and he was the proud father of three children,
Marla, Angela, and Marvin, and a stepdaughter, Lisa; over the
years, his life was further enriched with the addition of seven
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; he was also a valued
member of First United Methodist Church; and
WHEREAS, Marvin Maberry lived a caring and purposeful
life, and he will be remembered with admiration and affection by
all who had the good fortune to know him; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Marvin
H. Maberry Jr. and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his
family: to his wife, Diane Maberry; to his children, Marla
Bullard, Angela Hill, and Marvin H. Maberry III; to his
stepdaughter, Lisa Van Reenen, and her husband, Breda; to his
grandchildren, Jamie Strawn, Marissa and Carter Ayers, and Aaron,
Allison, Anna, and Ashlee Schaar; to his great-grandchildren,
Hannah and Hollye; to his stepgrandchildren, Gavin and Kelby Van
Reenen; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this day, it do
so in memory of Marvin Maberry.
