SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 231 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Florence Roberta Key Fisher on the grand occasion of her 90th birthday; and WHEREAS, Florence Key was born on March 1, 1927, in Raymondville, Texas; she married her high school sweetheart, Charles Edward Fisher, on October 6, 1945, only five months after they graduated from Port Lavaca High School; they were blessed with two children, six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren, and they shared 57 years of marriage until his death in 2003; and WHEREAS, Prior to the birth of her children, Florence worked at the Calhoun County clerk's office, and she later served for 26 years as the bookkeeper at Calhoun High School; she and her husband cofounded Shoreline Dredging and Construction in 1968, and after many successful years, they sold the company in 1993; and WHEREAS, Florence moved to Austin to be close to her family after Hurricane Claudette hit Port Lavaca in 2003; she is a beloved matriarch within her family and a respected member of her community, and her birthday is indeed cause for celebration among her friends and those who are privileged to share in her life; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th Legislature, hereby recognize Florence Roberta Key Fisher as a treasured citizen of Texas and congratulate her on her 90th birthday; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as a memento of this special day.
