| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the Texas Alliance of Boys and Girls Clubs for its |

| 4 | 4 | | exceptional work in helping young citizens realize their full |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | potential; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Boys and Girls Clubs provide services to more than |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | 360,000 school-aged children residing in more than 180 |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | communities across the state; leaders in these clubs stress |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | character and leadership development, education and career |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | advancement, and health and life skills; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Boys and Girls Clubs throughout Texas offer a wide |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | range of activities, from promoting the arts to providing sports, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | fitness, and recreation programs; these activities play an |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | important role in helping young people reach the goals of |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | academic success, healthy lifestyles, and good character and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | citizenship; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Each year, individual clubs select finalists to |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | compete for the title of the Texas State Youth of the Year and the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Texas Military Youth of the Year; the winner of each will go on to |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | represent the state in the National Youth of the Year and the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | National Military Youth of the Year competitions; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Through the years, Boys and Girls Clubs have |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | encouraged young people to aspire to achieve the highest level of |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | personal development and to become good citizens who are involved |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | in their communities; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature, hereby commend the Texas Alliance of Boys and Girls |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Clubs on its many contributions to the advancement of young |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Texans and extend to its members best wishes for continued |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | success; and, be it further |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

| 32 | 32 | | this exemplary organization as an expression of esteem from the |
