4	4	Billy R. Bradford Sr.
5	5	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
6	6	of Brownsville in mourning the loss of Billy R. Bradford Sr., who
7	7	died October 23, 2016, at the age of 82; and
8	8	WHEREAS, Bill Bradford was born on July 4, 1934, in a remote
9	9	farmhouse near Brownsboro, Texas; his family moved to the Rio
10	10	Grande Valley when he was a young boy, and he graduated from
11	11	Weslaco High School in 1953; and
12	12	WHEREAS, Bill attended Pan American College in Edinburg,
13	13	and he remained in the city to begin his accounting career at a
14	14	local firm; in 1966, he moved to Weslaco, and he partnered with
15	15	his lifelong friend, Jack Hales, to establish the present-day
16	16	firm of Hales-Bradford, LLP; in 1969, he relocated to Brownsville
17	17	when he expanded the company into the Brownsville community; and
18	18	WHEREAS, He married Mary Katherine Bass in August of 1958,
19	19	and they shared a life of spiritual devotion for 58 years; they
20	20	were blessed with three children and with six grandchildren; and
21	21	WHEREAS, Bill Bradford was a member of the West Brownsville
22	22	Lions Club, and he served as a teacher, deacon, and elder at Price
23	23	Road Church of Christ for more than 35 years; he was a beloved
24	24	member of the community, and he leaves behind memories that will
25	25	long be cherished by all who were privileged to share in his life;
26	26	now, therefore, be it
27	27	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
28	28	Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
29	29	family of Billy R. Bradford Sr.; and, be it further
30	30	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
31	31	his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
32	32	Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
33	33	memory of Bill Bradford.
