SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 28 In Memory of Billy R. Bradford Sr. WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens of Brownsville in mourning the loss of Billy R. Bradford Sr., who died October 23, 2016, at the age of 82; and WHEREAS, Bill Bradford was born on July 4, 1934, in a remote farmhouse near Brownsboro, Texas; his family moved to the Rio Grande Valley when he was a young boy, and he graduated from Weslaco High School in 1953; and WHEREAS, Bill attended Pan American College in Edinburg, and he remained in the city to begin his accounting career at a local firm; in 1966, he moved to Weslaco, and he partnered with his lifelong friend, Jack Hales, to establish the present-day firm of Hales-Bradford, LLP; in 1969, he relocated to Brownsville when he expanded the company into the Brownsville community; and WHEREAS, He married Mary Katherine Bass in August of 1958, and they shared a life of spiritual devotion for 58 years; they were blessed with three children and with six grandchildren; and WHEREAS, Bill Bradford was a member of the West Brownsville Lions Club, and he served as a teacher, deacon, and elder at Price Road Church of Christ for more than 35 years; he was a beloved member of the community, and he leaves behind memories that will long be cherished by all who were privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Billy R. Bradford Sr.; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Bill Bradford.
