| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | of Dallas in mourning the loss of Harold Boyd Sr., who died |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | February 16, 2017, at the age of 103; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, A native of Dallas, Harold Boyd was born on May |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | 14, 1913, and he was educated in the Dallas public school system; |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | he attended New Hope Baptist Church as a child and later joined |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | the congregation of Munger Avenue Baptist Church; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Harold married Jessie Lee Boyd in 1945, and they |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | were blessed with seven children who were raised with the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | loving support of the Munger Avenue Baptist Church community; |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Mr. and Mrs. Boyd shared 59 years of marriage until her passing in |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | 2004; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Boyd worked for many years as a self-employed |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | house painter, contractor, and entrepreneur, and he also worked |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | for Fox and Jacobs Home Builders; he retired from the Dallas |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Housing Authority; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Harold Boyd was a loving husband, father, and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | grandfather and a caring mentor to children throughout the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | community; he was beloved by many, and he leaves behind memories |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | that will long be cherished by all who were privileged to share in |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | his life; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | family of Harold Boyd Sr.; and, be it further |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | memory of Harold Boyd Sr. |
