SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 292 In Memory of Harold Boyd Sr. WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens of Dallas in mourning the loss of Harold Boyd Sr., who died February 16, 2017, at the age of 103; and WHEREAS, A native of Dallas, Harold Boyd was born on May 14, 1913, and he was educated in the Dallas public school system; he attended New Hope Baptist Church as a child and later joined the congregation of Munger Avenue Baptist Church; and WHEREAS, Harold married Jessie Lee Boyd in 1945, and they were blessed with seven children who were raised with the loving support of the Munger Avenue Baptist Church community; Mr. and Mrs. Boyd shared 59 years of marriage until her passing in 2004; and WHEREAS, Mr. Boyd worked for many years as a self-employed house painter, contractor, and entrepreneur, and he also worked for Fox and Jacobs Home Builders; he retired from the Dallas Housing Authority; and WHEREAS, Harold Boyd was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and a caring mentor to children throughout the community; he was beloved by many, and he leaves behind memories that will long be cherished by all who were privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Harold Boyd Sr.; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Harold Boyd Sr. West ________________________________ President of the Senate I hereby certify that the above Resolution was adopted by the Senate on February 28, 2017, by a rising vote. ________________________________ Secretary of the Senate ________________________________ Member, Texas Senate
