| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the ABC Pro Rodeo in Lubbock on the grand occasion of |

| 4 | 4 | | the event's 75th anniversary; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The ABC Pro Rodeo began in 1942 as an endeavor of |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | the Lubbock Downtown Chapter of the American Business Clubs, |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | commonly known as "AMBUCS," to bring Boys and Girls Club branches |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | to the region; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The rodeo serves as the chapter's biggest |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | fund-raiser; in addition to funding the construction of the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | community's first Boys and Girls Club, the event has raised more |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | than $1.5 million for the day-to-day operations of three local |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | clubs and has raised more than $1 million for local charities and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | support groups; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, The Lubbock Downtown Chapter of the American |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Business Clubs is committed to the organization's national |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | mission to create independent lifestyles for people with |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | disabilities; chapter members are hardworking individuals who |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | are motivated by the desire to improve the quality of life in |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Lubbock, and over the years, the ABC Pro Rodeo has enabled them to |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | continually fulfill their mission of service to their community; |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Legislature, hereby commend all associated with the Lubbock |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Downtown Chapter of the American Business Clubs and the ABC Pro |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Rodeo for their outstanding work on behalf of the children of |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Lubbock and extend to them best wishes for a memorable 75th |

| 28 | 28 | | anniversary event; and, be it further |
