SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 337 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the ABC Pro Rodeo in Lubbock on the grand occasion of the event's 75th anniversary; and WHEREAS, The ABC Pro Rodeo began in 1942 as an endeavor of the Lubbock Downtown Chapter of the American Business Clubs, commonly known as "AMBUCS," to bring Boys and Girls Club branches to the region; and WHEREAS, The rodeo serves as the chapter's biggest fund-raiser; in addition to funding the construction of the community's first Boys and Girls Club, the event has raised more than $1.5 million for the day-to-day operations of three local clubs and has raised more than $1 million for local charities and support groups; and WHEREAS, The Lubbock Downtown Chapter of the American Business Clubs is committed to the organization's national mission to create independent lifestyles for people with disabilities; chapter members are hardworking individuals who are motivated by the desire to improve the quality of life in Lubbock, and over the years, the ABC Pro Rodeo has enabled them to continually fulfill their mission of service to their community; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th Legislature, hereby commend all associated with the Lubbock Downtown Chapter of the American Business Clubs and the ABC Pro Rodeo for their outstanding work on behalf of the children of Lubbock and extend to them best wishes for a memorable 75th anniversary event; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in their honor as an expression of high esteem from the Texas Senate.
