| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | join citizens across the state in celebrating September 30, 2017, |

| 4 | 4 | | as Czech Heritage Day in Texas; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Many people in Texas trace their roots to the |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Czech Republic; once known as Bohemia, the Czech Republic is home |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | to a proud people who have fought valiantly through the years to |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | preserve their culture and values; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Texas has more people of Czech descent than any |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | other state in the union, and there are a number of these citizens |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | who continue to speak the distinctive Texas Czech dialect; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Texans of Czech descent take great pleasure in |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | sharing their culture with their fellow Texans at such events as |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | the Kolache Fest in Halletsville; it is truly fitting that a day |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | be set aside to celebrate their heritage and many achievements; |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Legislature, hereby commend the Texans of Czech ancestry for |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | their many contributions to our state and extend to all best |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | wishes for a memorable Czech Heritage Day; and, be it further |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | honor of this special occasion. |
