                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 343
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 join citizens across the state in celebrating September 30, 2017,
 as Czech Heritage Day in Texas; and
 WHEREAS, Many people in Texas trace their roots to the
 Czech Republic; once known as Bohemia, the Czech Republic is home
 to a proud people who have fought valiantly through the years to
 preserve their culture and values; and
 WHEREAS, Texas has more people of Czech descent than any
 other state in the union, and there are a number of these citizens
 who continue to speak the distinctive Texas Czech dialect; and
 WHEREAS, Texans of Czech descent take great pleasure in
 sharing their culture with their fellow Texans at such events as
 the Kolache Fest in Halletsville; it is truly fitting that a day
 be set aside to celebrate their heritage and many achievements;
 now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
 Legislature, hereby commend the Texans of Czech ancestry for
 their many contributions to our state and extend to all best
 wishes for a memorable Czech Heritage Day; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
 honor of this special occasion.
