SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 351 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory on the occasion of the institution's 50th anniversary; and WHEREAS, Texas legislators created the Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory in 1967 during the regular session of the 60th Legislature; the laboratory formally opened in College Station in 1969; its mission is to promote animal health and protect agricultural health, companion animal health, and public health through excellence in veterinary diagnostic services; and WHEREAS, Today the institution is comprised of two full-service laboratories, located in College Station and Amarillo, and two poultry laboratories that are in Center and Gonzales; the institute's primary clients include animal owners, veterinarians, and an array of state and federal agencies; the laboratories provide the testing required for the movement of animals across international, interstate, and intrastate borders; and WHEREAS, The success of the Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory can be attributed to a dedicated and skilled staff of professionals, technicians, and administrators and to the professional relationships the institution has developed with the Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Science, practicing veterinarians, and members of the general public; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th Legislature, hereby commend all who have helped the Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory fulfill its mission of excellence in veterinary diagnostic service and extend to them congratulations on the laboratory's 50th anniversary; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
