| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Galveston College on the occasion of its 50th |

| 4 | 4 | | anniversary; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Galveston College was established in 1967 in the |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | building that formerly housed the Saint Mary's Orphanage; this |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | building is still a part of the campus and is now known as Moody |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Hall; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Since its founding, the college has grown to |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | become one of the leading community colleges in the state; the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | institution is known for its exceptional facilities, attractive |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | campus, and commitment to educational excellence; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Galveston College is nationally recognized for |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | its Universal Access tuition assistance program that benefits |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | students from all educational backgrounds; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Legislature, hereby commend the administrators, faculty, staff, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | and students of Galveston College on their commitment to |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | excellence in education and extend to all best wishes for a |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | memorable 50th anniversary celebration; and, be it further |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | the college as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
