                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 431
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 recognize Galveston College on the occasion of its 50th
 anniversary; and
 WHEREAS, Galveston College was established in 1967 in the
 building that formerly housed the Saint Mary's Orphanage; this
 building is still a part of the campus and is now known as Moody
 Hall; and
 WHEREAS, Since its founding, the college has grown to
 become one of the leading community colleges in the state; the
 institution is known for its exceptional facilities, attractive
 campus, and commitment to educational excellence; and
 WHEREAS, Galveston College is nationally recognized for
 its Universal Access tuition assistance program that benefits
 students from all educational backgrounds; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
 Legislature, hereby commend the administrators, faculty, staff,
 and students of Galveston College on their commitment to
 excellence in education and extend to all best wishes for a
 memorable 50th anniversary celebration; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 the college as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
