| 4 | 4 | | organization's commitment to citizen involvement in the |

| 5 | 5 | | political process; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Part of the National Federation of the Grand Order |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | of Pachyderm Clubs, which is an official allied group of the |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Republican National Committee, the club promotes grassroots |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | civic action among Republicans in the Houston area and sponsors |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | weekly meetings that provide information on government and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | politics through presentations by elected officials, candidates |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | for office, agency representatives, and political activists; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, The club was founded to provide a practical means |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | for broad citizen participation in politics, to facilitate |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | political education and the dissemination of information on the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | political system, and to promote the development of political |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | leaders; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Through the years, the club has provided |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | outstanding leadership in the quest to improve government |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | through citizen participation, and it is truly deserving of |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | recognition; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 23 | 23 | | recognize the Greater Houston Pachyderm Club for its exemplary |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | efforts to get people involved in the political process; now, |

| 25 | 25 | | therefore, be it |

| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature, hereby commend the Greater Houston Pachyderm Club |

| 28 | 28 | | on its efforts to promote citizen participation in politics, |

| 29 | 29 | | extend to its members best wishes for continued success, and |

| 30 | 30 | | recognize the club on the occasion of the organization's visit to |
|---|
