SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 509
WHEREAS, Members of the Greater Houston Pachyderm Club are
gathering in Austin on March 27, 2017, to highlight the
organization's commitment to citizen involvement in the
political process; and
WHEREAS, Part of the National Federation of the Grand Order
of Pachyderm Clubs, which is an official allied group of the
Republican National Committee, the club promotes grassroots
civic action among Republicans in the Houston area and sponsors
weekly meetings that provide information on government and
politics through presentations by elected officials, candidates
for office, agency representatives, and political activists; and
WHEREAS, The club was founded to provide a practical means
for broad citizen participation in politics, to facilitate
political education and the dissemination of information on the
political system, and to promote the development of political
leaders; and
WHEREAS, Through the years, the club has provided
outstanding leadership in the quest to improve government
through citizen participation, and it is truly deserving of
recognition; and
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the Greater Houston Pachyderm Club for its exemplary
efforts to get people involved in the political process; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
Legislature, hereby commend the Greater Houston Pachyderm Club
on its efforts to promote citizen participation in politics,
extend to its members best wishes for continued success, and
recognize the club on the occasion of the organization's visit to
the State Capitol on March 27, 2017; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the club as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
