| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Terrence J. Reed, who is being honored with a Business |

| 4 | 4 | | Award from Acres Home Chamber for Business and Economic |

| 5 | 5 | | Development, Incorporated, at its 28th annual Awards Banquet on |

| 6 | 6 | | March 31, 2017; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, The Acres Home Chamber for Business and Economic |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Development was founded in 1994 to promote the economic vitality |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | of the Acres Homes community; the nonprofit organization |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | provides a variety of programs, seminars, workshops, and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | professional development opportunities to the community with the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | goal of helping individuals, small businesses, and entrepreneurs |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | continue on paths to success; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Each year, the organization hosts an awards |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | banquet to honor area citizens who deserve recognition for their |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | exceptional work on behalf of the community; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Terrence Reed, affectionately known as "Pokey |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Reed," is a native resident of the Acres Homes community; he |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | established Vintage Carriage Company, LLC, in 2008, and over the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | years, his classic horse-drawn carriages have become the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | highlight of many events and celebrations in the greater Houston |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | area, as well as in such cities as Galveston and Conroe; Mr. |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Reed's philanthropic donations to his community extend beyond |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | financial contributions, as he generously volunteers his time to |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | a number of charitable causes and organizations; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, A truly exemplary citizen, Mr. Reed represents |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | the highest ideals of civic engagement, and he can indeed take |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | pride in his outstanding service to the community; now, |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Legislature, hereby commend Terrence J. Reed for helping to make |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | the Acres Homes community an inviting place in which to live and |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | work and for his company's positive impact on the area and |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | congratulate him on receiving a Business Award from the Acres Home |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | Chamber for Business and Economic Development; and, be it further |

| 36 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him |
