SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 524
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Terrence J. Reed, who is being honored with a Business
Award from Acres Home Chamber for Business and Economic
Development, Incorporated, at its 28th annual Awards Banquet on
March 31, 2017; and
WHEREAS, The Acres Home Chamber for Business and Economic
Development was founded in 1994 to promote the economic vitality
of the Acres Homes community; the nonprofit organization
provides a variety of programs, seminars, workshops, and
professional development opportunities to the community with the
goal of helping individuals, small businesses, and entrepreneurs
continue on paths to success; and
WHEREAS, Each year, the organization hosts an awards
banquet to honor area citizens who deserve recognition for their
exceptional work on behalf of the community; and
WHEREAS, Terrence Reed, affectionately known as "Pokey
Reed," is a native resident of the Acres Homes community; he
established Vintage Carriage Company, LLC, in 2008, and over the
years, his classic horse-drawn carriages have become the
highlight of many events and celebrations in the greater Houston
area, as well as in such cities as Galveston and Conroe; Mr.
Reed's philanthropic donations to his community extend beyond
financial contributions, as he generously volunteers his time to
a number of charitable causes and organizations; and
WHEREAS, A truly exemplary citizen, Mr. Reed represents
the highest ideals of civic engagement, and he can indeed take
pride in his outstanding service to the community; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
Legislature, hereby commend Terrence J. Reed for helping to make
the Acres Homes community an inviting place in which to live and
work and for his company's positive impact on the area and
congratulate him on receiving a Business Award from the Acres Home
Chamber for Business and Economic Development; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him
as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
