| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Johnnie Tatum, who is being honored with a Business |

| 4 | 4 | | Award from Acres Home Chamber for Business and Economic |

| 5 | 5 | | Development, Incorporated, at its 28th annual Awards Banquet on |

| 6 | 6 | | March 31, 2017; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, The Acres Home Chamber for Business and Economic |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Development was founded in 1994 to promote the economic vitality |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | of the Acres Homes community; the nonprofit organization provides |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | a variety of programs, seminars, workshops, and professional |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | development opportunities to the community with the goal of |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | helping individuals, small businesses, and entrepreneurs |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | continue on paths to success; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Each year, the organization hosts an awards |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | banquet to honor area citizens who deserve recognition for their |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | exceptional work on behalf of the community; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Johnnie Tatum was raised in Acres Homes, and after |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | a career in health care that spanned more than 20 years, he opened |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Second Chance Consulting and Second Chance Outreach in his |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | childhood community; these nonprofit organizations assist |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | vulnerable residents with resume building and interview skills, |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | and they offer programs relating to such issues as domestic |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | violence intervention, parenting support, and anger management; |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Second Chance has also worked with local law enforcement officers |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | and guided initiatives to benefit the community; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, A truly exemplary citizen, Mr. Tatum represents |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | the highest ideals of civic engagement, and he can indeed take |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | pride in his outstanding community leadership; now, therefore, |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | be it |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Legislature, hereby commend Johnnie Tatum for helping those in |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | need to succeed and for making the Acres Homes community an |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | inviting place in which to live and work and congratulate him on |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | receiving a Business Award from the Acres Home Chamber for |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | Business and Economic Development; and, be it further |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him |

| 37 | 37 | | as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
