SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 526
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Johnnie Tatum, who is being honored with a Business
Award from Acres Home Chamber for Business and Economic
Development, Incorporated, at its 28th annual Awards Banquet on
March 31, 2017; and
WHEREAS, The Acres Home Chamber for Business and Economic
Development was founded in 1994 to promote the economic vitality
of the Acres Homes community; the nonprofit organization provides
a variety of programs, seminars, workshops, and professional
development opportunities to the community with the goal of
helping individuals, small businesses, and entrepreneurs
continue on paths to success; and
WHEREAS, Each year, the organization hosts an awards
banquet to honor area citizens who deserve recognition for their
exceptional work on behalf of the community; and
WHEREAS, Johnnie Tatum was raised in Acres Homes, and after
a career in health care that spanned more than 20 years, he opened
Second Chance Consulting and Second Chance Outreach in his
childhood community; these nonprofit organizations assist
vulnerable residents with resume building and interview skills,
and they offer programs relating to such issues as domestic
violence intervention, parenting support, and anger management;
Second Chance has also worked with local law enforcement officers
and guided initiatives to benefit the community; and
WHEREAS, A truly exemplary citizen, Mr. Tatum represents
the highest ideals of civic engagement, and he can indeed take
pride in his outstanding community leadership; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
Legislature, hereby commend Johnnie Tatum for helping those in
need to succeed and for making the Acres Homes community an
inviting place in which to live and work and congratulate him on
receiving a Business Award from the Acres Home Chamber for
Business and Economic Development; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him
as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
