| 3 | 3 | | join Texans and veterans across the state in celebrating the |

| 4 | 4 | | third anniversary of the dedication of the Texas Capitol Vietnam |

| 5 | 5 | | Veterans Monument; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Texas Capitol Vietnam Veterans Monument was |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | dedicated on March 29, 2014, before a crowd of nearly 5,000 |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | citizens, veterans, and Texas leaders; its construction was made |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | possible by the passage of House Concurrent Resolution 36 during |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | the 79th Legislative Session and by the hard work and dedication |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | of the Texas Capitol Vietnam Veterans Monument Committee; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Situated on the Capitol's northeast lawn, this |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | impressive monument pays tribute to the service and sacrifice of |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | the thousands of Texans who served the country in Vietnam; more |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | than 3,400 Texans made the ultimate sacrifice in the war and more |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | than 100 are still listed as missing in action; 17 Texans |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | received the Medal of Honor for their distinguished bravery and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | service above and beyond the call of duty; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, The Vietnam War was one of the longest armed |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | conflicts in American history, and the Texans who fought in |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | battles at Pleiku, Ia Drang, Bien Hoa, Khe Sanh, and other |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | notable engagements have taken their place among the long line of |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | courageous men and women who have left a lasting mark on the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | world; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature, hereby commend all those who contributed to the |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | planning and dedication of the Texas Capitol Vietnam Veterans |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Monument and pay tribute to the Texans who served in the Vietnam |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | War; and, be it further |

| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in |
