11 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 627
22 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
33 recognize Mark L. Madrid, who is stepping down as president and
44 chief executive officer of the Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of
55 Commerce after three and one-half years of exemplary leadership; and
66 WHEREAS, Mark Madrid has gained widespread recognition for
77 his diligent work as a Hispanic leader on behalf of Texas
88 communities; he has served in advisory and leadership positions
99 for educational and civic organizations in both Houston and
1010 Austin, and in 2014, he was appointed to the Texas Diversity
1111 Council Central Texas Advisory Board; as a successful
1212 businessperson, he is highly regarded for the enthusiasm with
1313 which he approaches projects and for his expertise, and as an
1414 influential philanthropist, he is admired for his passion and
1515 grassroots focus; and
1616 WHEREAS, A truly distinguished community leader, Mark
1717 Madrid has been honored on numerous occasions for his
1818 contributions to the fields of finance, education, media, and the
1919 arts; he was recently named one of four inaugural Texas Modern
2020 Hispanic Gentlemen by Texas Monthly and Ketel One, and he used
2121 this initiative to establish the Mark L. Madrid Scholarships for
2222 deserving business majors at The University of Texas and at the
2323 University of Notre Dame; and
2424 WHEREAS, Mark Madrid is fiercely dedicated to the
2525 enrichment of communities in Texas and around the nation; he is
2626 leaving the Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to serve
2727 as executive director of the Latino Business Action Network, a
2828 national organization based in Palo Alto, California; his
2929 leadership and many accomplishments on behalf of Texas
3030 communities will not be forgotten; now, therefore, be it
3131 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
3232 Legislature, hereby commend Mark L. Madrid on his many
3333 contributions to the state and on his outstanding leadership of
3434 the Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and extend to him
3535 best wishes in all his endeavors; and, be it further
3636 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
3737 him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
