2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

3 | 3 | | recognize Mark L. Madrid, who is stepping down as president and |

4 | 4 | | chief executive officer of the Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of |

5 | 5 | | Commerce after three and one-half years of exemplary leadership; and |
---|
6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Mark Madrid has gained widespread recognition for |
---|
7 | 7 | | his diligent work as a Hispanic leader on behalf of Texas |
---|
8 | 8 | | communities; he has served in advisory and leadership positions |
---|
9 | 9 | | for educational and civic organizations in both Houston and |
---|
10 | 10 | | Austin, and in 2014, he was appointed to the Texas Diversity |
---|
11 | 11 | | Council Central Texas Advisory Board; as a successful |
---|
12 | 12 | | businessperson, he is highly regarded for the enthusiasm with |
---|
13 | 13 | | which he approaches projects and for his expertise, and as an |
---|
14 | 14 | | influential philanthropist, he is admired for his passion and |
---|
15 | 15 | | grassroots focus; and |
---|
16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, A truly distinguished community leader, Mark |
---|
17 | 17 | | Madrid has been honored on numerous occasions for his |
---|
18 | 18 | | contributions to the fields of finance, education, media, and the |
---|
19 | 19 | | arts; he was recently named one of four inaugural Texas Modern |
---|
20 | 20 | | Hispanic Gentlemen by Texas Monthly and Ketel One, and he used |
---|
21 | 21 | | this initiative to establish the Mark L. Madrid Scholarships for |
---|
22 | 22 | | deserving business majors at The University of Texas and at the |
---|
23 | 23 | | University of Notre Dame; and |
---|
24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Mark Madrid is fiercely dedicated to the |
---|
25 | 25 | | enrichment of communities in Texas and around the nation; he is |
---|
26 | 26 | | leaving the Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to serve |
---|
27 | 27 | | as executive director of the Latino Business Action Network, a |
---|
28 | 28 | | national organization based in Palo Alto, California; his |
---|
29 | 29 | | leadership and many accomplishments on behalf of Texas |
---|
30 | 30 | | communities will not be forgotten; now, therefore, be it |
---|
31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
---|
32 | 32 | | Legislature, hereby commend Mark L. Madrid on his many |
---|
33 | 33 | | contributions to the state and on his outstanding leadership of |
---|
34 | 34 | | the Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and extend to him |
---|
35 | 35 | | best wishes in all his endeavors; and, be it further |

36 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
