                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 627
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 recognize Mark L. Madrid, who is stepping down as president and
 chief executive officer of the Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of
 Commerce after three and one-half years of exemplary leadership; and
 WHEREAS, Mark Madrid has gained widespread recognition for
 his diligent work as a Hispanic leader on behalf of Texas
 communities; he has served in advisory and leadership positions
 for educational and civic organizations in both Houston and
 Austin, and in 2014, he was appointed to the Texas Diversity
 Council Central Texas Advisory Board; as a successful
 businessperson, he is highly regarded for the enthusiasm with
 which he approaches projects and for his expertise, and as an
 influential philanthropist, he is admired for his passion and
 grassroots focus; and
 WHEREAS, A truly distinguished community leader, Mark
 Madrid has been honored on numerous occasions for his
 contributions to the fields of finance, education, media, and the
 arts; he was recently named one of four inaugural Texas Modern
 Hispanic Gentlemen by Texas Monthly and Ketel One, and he used
 this initiative to establish the Mark L. Madrid Scholarships for
 deserving business majors at The University of Texas and at the
 University of Notre Dame; and
 WHEREAS, Mark Madrid is fiercely dedicated to the
 enrichment of communities in Texas and around the nation; he is
 leaving the Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to serve
 as executive director of the Latino Business Action Network, a
 national organization based in Palo Alto, California; his
 leadership and many accomplishments on behalf of Texas
 communities will not be forgotten; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
 Legislature, hereby commend Mark L. Madrid on his many
 contributions to the state and on his outstanding leadership of
 the Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and extend to him
 best wishes in all his endeavors; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
