| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the Lopez Early College High School Band, which |

| 4 | 4 | | recently won the 2016 Division 6A Honor Band State Championship |

| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Texas Music Educators Association's State |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Honor Band Finals took place in San Antonio on July 21, 2016; |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | after an arduous series of competitions, the Lopez Early College |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | High School Band was victorious, earning the school its second |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | state title; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Under the superior guidance of directors George |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Trevino, Sam Hjort, Ramon Vasquez, Mike Garza, and Monica Garza, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | band members have developed exceptional teamwork and discipline; |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | having demonstrated great talent and perseverance throughout the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | school year, the skilled musicians can indeed take pride in their |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | outstanding performance; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Lopez Early College High School and the City of |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Brownsville are proud of the members of the Lopez Early College |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | High School Band for their hard work, their impressive skills, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | and their steadfast determination; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Lopez Early |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | College High School Band on their successful year and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | congratulate them on winning the 2016 Division 6A Honor Band |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | State Championship; and, be it further |

| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
