SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 63
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the Lopez Early College High School Band, which
recently won the 2016 Division 6A Honor Band State Championship
title; and
WHEREAS, The Texas Music Educators Association's State
Honor Band Finals took place in San Antonio on July 21, 2016;
after an arduous series of competitions, the Lopez Early College
High School Band was victorious, earning the school its second
state title; and
WHEREAS, Under the superior guidance of directors George
Trevino, Sam Hjort, Ramon Vasquez, Mike Garza, and Monica Garza,
band members have developed exceptional teamwork and discipline;
having demonstrated great talent and perseverance throughout the
school year, the skilled musicians can indeed take pride in their
outstanding performance; and
WHEREAS, Lopez Early College High School and the City of
Brownsville are proud of the members of the Lopez Early College
High School Band for their hard work, their impressive skills,
and their steadfast determination; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Lopez Early
College High School Band on their successful year and
congratulate them on winning the 2016 Division 6A Honor Band
State Championship; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the band as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
