| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the Conroe Symphony Orchestra on the occasion of its 20th |

| 4 | 4 | | anniversary, which is being celebrated on April 29, 2017; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Conroe Symphony Orchestra was established in |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | the summer of 1997 under the leadership of Herb Armentrout, Mary |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Curtis Taylor, and Mark Multop with the mission of adding to the |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | cultural enrichment of the community and enhancing the quality of |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | life for the Conroe area; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Since its founding, the organization has grown |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | and now consists of three divisions, the Conroe Symphony |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Orchestra, the Friends of the Symphony, and the Conroe Symphony |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Youth Orchestra; its success is due to a group of more than 225 |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | volunteers who work tirelessly to provide support for the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | presentation of five classical concerts and for such projects as |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | fund-raisers, youth orchestra activities, and community |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | education and outreach programs; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, The orchestra's season includes a mix of classical |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | and popular music performed by a talented group of area musicians |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | and featured soloists; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, The Conroe Symphony Orchestra has become one of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | the premier community orchestras in the state, and it is truly |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | fitting that this orchestra receive special recognition as it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | reaches this milestone in its history; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature, hereby commend the staff, musicians, and volunteers |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | of the Conroe Symphony Orchestra on their dedication and hard |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | work and extend to them best wishes for a memorable 20th |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | anniversary celebration; and, be it further |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | the orchestra as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
